Short answer: Waymo is open to everyone in San Antonio, 24/7, in the Waymo app, and it serves San Antonio International Airport (SAT). The area is about 60 square miles, from Downtown, Southtown and King William up to Monte Vista, Tobin Hill and North Central, plus Alamo Heights, Olmos Park and Terrell Hills.

San Antonio launched with invited riders on February 24, 2026, started airport rides on March 31 and opened to everyone on October 14, 2026. It's the only Waymo city in Texas with airport service. For other cities, see every Waymo city.

Where Waymo goes

  • Downtown and south: Downtown, the Arena District, Southtown and King William.
  • Central: Tobin Hill, Five Points, Government Hill, Monte Vista and Alta Vista.
  • North: North Central, Dellview and Beacon Hill.
  • Nearby cities: Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills and Olmos Park.

Visiting the Alamo or the River Walk? Downtown is covered, but the car can only stop at street level. Pick a pickup point on a cross street rather than inside the busiest blocks.

San Antonio airport (SAT)

  1. Collect your bags first, then request the ride in the Waymo app.
  2. For pickups, go to the rideshare zone on the Arrivals level. Drop-offs are curbside at Departures for Terminals A and B.
  3. Check the initials on the roof dome, unlock the car in the app and load your bags fully inside.

See Waymo at the airport for luggage tips and the other airports Waymo serves.

Weather pauses

San Antonio's flash floods have caused trouble for robotaxis. In May 2026, Waymo suspended service in San Antonio and Atlanta while it worked on avoiding flooded roads, and service has since returned. During flood warnings, expect rides to be limited. See Waymo hours and weather.

San Antonio tips

  • Tesla has named San Antonio as a coming Robotaxi city, but as of October 21, 2026 Waymo is the only driverless service here.
  • Spurs games at the Frost Bank Center draw heavy traffic; book a few blocks away.
  • Prices are higher at peak times. See Waymo prices.
