Short answer: Waymo is open to everyone in Miami, 24 hours a day, in the Waymo app. The service area covers Downtown, Brickell, Wynwood, the Design District, Little Havana and Coconut Grove, and reaches Miami Beach, Coral Gables, North Miami and Bal Harbour. Miami International Airport isn't served for the public yet.

Miami was Waymo's first Florida city. Rides started on January 22, 2026 with invited riders and opened to everyone on April 15, 2026. Here's where the cars go, what's still missing and how Miami compares with Waymo's other cities. For the full list, see every Waymo city.

Where Waymo goes in Miami

  • Core neighborhoods: Downtown, Brickell, Wynwood, the Design District, Little Havana, Coconut Grove and Biscayne Gardens.
  • Nearby cities also served: Miami Beach, Coral Gables, West Miami, South Miami, North Miami, North Miami Beach, Miami Shores, Bal Harbour and Miami Gardens (including Hard Rock Stadium).

At launch, the area was about 60 square miles centered on the Design District, Wynwood, Brickell and Coral Gables. It has grown since, so check the map in the app before you plan a trip to the edges.

Heading to a Dolphins game or a concert at Hard Rock Stadium? Waymo serves the stadium area, but event traffic is heavy. Book early, or walk a few blocks away from the crowd for your pickup.

Miami International Airport

As of October 21, 2026, Waymo rides at MIA are limited to airport employees. Waymo says public airport rides are coming "soon", but there's no date. Until then, take a Waymo to a hotel or a point near the airport, or use a regular rideshare for the terminal. See Waymo at the airport for the airports that are served.

Highways and causeways

When Waymo started in Miami, rides avoided highways. Highway trips are now offered to select riders, and the app only uses them when they save real time. Trips across the causeways to Miami Beach work on regular roads.

Rain and storms

Waymo says its cars can handle Miami's sudden tropical downpours. Severe weather is different: in May 2026 Waymo paused service in four other cities during storms and flooding. If a hurricane or flood warning is in effect, expect the service to be limited or paused, and plan another way home. More in Waymo hours and weather.
